This piece is made entirely by hand using a textured clay body and traditional slab and coil building techniques. It is inspired by the rugged sheer cliffs that cascade into the Atlantic ocean, disguising mine shafts into its depths.
Paula does not use a potter's wheel, any moulds or machines, only a few basic tools. Her ideas have evolved from observing the land and seas of the North Cornwall coast, its ancient history, archaeology, myths, legends, and languages. Marks left on the landscape by civilisations now lost to the passage of time.
