A solid coopered structure in Swiss pear wood with very rare snake wood details, this cabinet incorporates a mechanical masterpiece in its construction. A solid Swiss pear wood elliptical pedestal houses a massive integral pear wood hinge built into the back. The centre consul incorporates many concave drawers of progressing widths, additionally acting as a support to the opening sides via the rear wooden full length hinge. A spring released bottom drawer pulls open what seems to be a cabinet that cannot be accessed. Elliptical sides are supported by a massive wooden hinge at the rear of the cabinet. When the bottom drawer pull is pressed down, the cabinet sides open to reveal an array of shelves.
The Gentleman's Cabinet has featured on John Bly's Heirloom's program, to which he described it as an incredible masterpiece.
This piece has a very early Bespoke Guild Mark (191), awarded to Huw for this masterful piece of cabinet making.
