This piece comes from a series of paintings inspired by Rowena's time spent sailing on the Firth of Clyde around Rothesay Bay, into Gare Loch and Cumbrae. But more specifically it is a response to the extreme weather and exhilarating conditions that occurred on the trip, especially when sailing through the night. The spontaneous nature of these paintings directly relate to the impressions left by such an exciting, quixotic and colourful week on the sea.
