Sue loves painting the cobles of the North East coast. A 'coble' is a type of open, traditional fishing boat which actually originates from North East England. They are a beautiful, clinker built fishing boat, fitted with a rounded bell and flat bottom for ease of launching off the beach. Sue's approach here takes traditional subject matter and presents it from a new angle. This paining is almost abstract to some degree; a mere collection of shapes which when presented together tell a story of the sea, fishing, and the people who risk all.
