Mikala Djorup did a traditional jewellery apprenticeship in her hometown of Copenhagen, before moving to London in 1996 to study further. She has run her own workshop since 1999 and opened her shop in 2003 on London’s vibrant South Bank where her work can be seen and commissions discussed.
Mikala creates modern jewellery using silver, 18-carat gold and platinum, mainly with diamonds, pearls and coloured gemstones. Unusual rose cut diamonds and Tahitian pearls are often used in her timeless, unique and contemporary designs in which her Danish heritage and technical training shows.
All her work is handmade in her open plan studio. Since 1999 Mikala has regularly been showing and selling her jewellery at fairs and exhibitions in the UK and abroad.
